Throughout time the idea of eating Thanksgiving dinner at a swanky restaurant or fancy hotel holds a certain fascination. Skip the confusion of trying to wade through a family full of dietary restrictions. Screw dish washing. Order what you want and let your immediates do the same. Avoid someone bringing that horrible NPR Susan Stamberg horseradish cranberry relish.
Another alternative is find a time machine Uber and pick a destination based on date and price. The times will be interesting and the tabs can’t be beat. But seriously Turkey Day party people, there are some great ideas in here for some perfect dishes that have dropped from tradition over the years. Show up with a dish of some Mashed Turnips, Boiled Spanish Mackerel in Sauce Colbert, Oyster Bay Asparagus, or Roast Woodcock, Michigan Style.
Happy time travels, happy eating, thanks for a thankful day!

Fun to read all those years of menus. Love the cigars and cigarettes! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
