Teenagers from outer space are here! They have come to check out our thrift stores, digitize our vinyl collections, and they will drive our vape numbers into the stratosphere!
It is Week 3 for the Retrofit Midnight Drive In. Already there are cool changes to announce. Unlike a regular drive in, you don’t have to worry about only sharing with the friends you could stuff in your trunk.
To replicate the true open air movie experience, you now get a chapter a week serial and a cartoon. They will be embedded in reverse order: Feature, Serial, Cartoon. View in any order, you don’t have to scroll to the bottom for the feature. You don’t even need pajamas.
What a feature it is! B***hole surfers of the universe arrive in a souped up flying saucer. The alien adolescents’ mission is to find a place to raise their favorite food,"Gargons.” These delicious yet menacing creatures look like giant lobsters searching for melted butter filled swimming pools. The only decent crew member among these frat boys from beyond is called Derek. He needs to rescue the planet and find a girlfriend.
This lo-fi space opera had a budget of $20,000. It transcended into the public domain in 1987 when Warner Bros chose not to renew its copyright. It might have done better in an era of legal weed.
Our serial is the first installment of The Phantom Empire (1935). Gene Autry stars as a singing cowboy who discovers a lost civilization four miles beneath his Radio Ranch.
Finally “How Now Boing Boing” (1954) A cartoon featuring the Dr. Seuss creation Gerald McBoing Boing, a little boy who speaks in sound effects
Enjoy the flicks, post on your favorite social media. Let’s sneak some of your friends into the Retrofit Midnight Drive In!
