Jane Birkin made her film debut in 1965 in “The Knack and How to Get It.” She was married to John Barry at the time, whose day job was producing the James Bond films with Sean Connery. After they broke up, she hooked up with Serge Gainsbourg in France, and recorded one of the hottest and most controversial pop songs of all time.
It hit number one on the charts in England, despite the fact that it was banned completely from all radio. Today you can hear it on compilations such as Music to Shag By. Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg from 1969, with “Je T’aime…moi non plus.”
