Larry and Lorrie Collins, a brother and sister rockabilly act born in Tulsa and Talequah, Oklahoma, found themselves national celebrities when they appeared on weekly television on Tex Ritter’s Town Hall Party beginning in 1958. At that time Lorrie was a 17 year old sweetheart of the rodeo, and Larry was cowpunk 15, a flat topped shorty ripping it up on an electric double neck guitar.
PS, Ricky Nelson fell in love with Lorrie when he saw her on television, and she was his first girlfriend, both in real life and on The Ozzie and Harriet Show. Together they made beautiful music together.
From their first album, here’s the Collins Kids with “Mercy.”
My baby is a rare kind
He really sends chills up my spine
My baby loves me, yes, indeed
My baby is the one for me
Mercy
What my baby does to me, me, me, yeah, me
Mercy
What my baby does to me, me, me, me
When my baby embraces me
He sure don't know what he does to me
When he whispers that he loves me so
He makes my pulse go, go, go
Mеrcy
What my baby does to me, me, mе, yeah, me
Mercy
What my baby does to me, me, me, me
Aw, let's get it now
Mercy, how my baby pleases me
He's just as sweet as he can be
But, mercy, when he teases me
Oh, he sure don't know what he does to me
Mercy
What my baby does to me, me, me, yeah, me
Mercy
What my baby does to me, me, me, me
Mercy me
