The Ikettes were the creation of Ike Turner in the early 1960s, the girl group who backed up the Ike and Tina Turner Review.  Ike never paid them much, they never saw any residuals, yet today they are considered one of the more influential R&B girl groups of all time. 

Meet Delores Johnson (aka Flora Williams), Eloise Hester, and Joshie Armstead with a song they recorded during JFK’s first year in the white house, 1961.  The Ikettes with I’m Blue, the Gong Gong Song, on Old School.
